Easter Party Ideas
Easter Party Ideas For Kids
Many times Easter party ideas begin and end with the egg hunt. This isn't necessarily bad. Most small children love an Easter egg hunt, and when it is a family affair the eggs are sometimes hidden and hidden again, several times. The parents often tire of the sport before the children do. The very little ones don't even need prizes, the thrill is in the chase.
If it's not just your own children participating in an egg hunt, but those of several other families as well, it's time to think of a few Easter party ideas, something beyond just the egg hunt. Given the right Easter party ideas, kids from toddlers right up into grade school can have several hours of fun without the chance of becoming bored.
As far as the egg hunt itself is concerned, one can be a little more fun for the older, grade school age kids, if it is a bit challenging. That might be difficult to do on the front lawn, but if there's an areas with some brush, bumps, hills, and the like, offering neat hiding places, the older kids will get much more of a kick out of the hunt. An egg hunt will never be as exciting as a video game, but still can be a lot of fun. Save the front lawn for the toddlers, who can get frustrated if the hunt gets a bit too challenging.
An Egg Roll – Not An Eggroll - An Easter egg roll can be a great deal of fun. For each contestant you'll need a hard boiled egg and a large spoon. A flat surface is probably best, though a bumpy surface certainly will be a bit more challenging (and why you'll want to use hard boiled eggs). The idea is to roll the egg, using the spoon, from one point to another, the destination being quite a few feet away. If the egg roll is made into a relay race, something like you might see on an episode of Survivor, it can be even more fun. It's a good idea to have some prizes on hand, whether they be chocolate bunnies or cheap trophies.
If prizes are to be given out to winners of any competitive events you come up with, it's a good idea to arrange things so everyone ends up worth a prize over the course of the party.
The Spoon Race - Spoon races also make great Easter party ideas. The idea is to carry an egg in a spoon from one point to another instead of rolling the egg. This one can be a relay race as well, with the eggs being passed from spoon to spoon (no fingers). To liven things up, raw eggs can be used for this event. Break an egg, you start over.
The Exciting Paper Cup Relay - A variation of the spoon race that doesn't involve either a spoon or an egg, is he paper cup relay. Here each contestant is given a flexible (bendable) straw. The contestants divide into two teams. One player from each team has a paper cup placed over his or her straw. That player must then walk or run a specified distance and pass the cup to the next person on the team. The cup must be passed using the straws only, no hands. If the cup falls to the ground, only the straws can be used to pick it up. This is one of the Easter party ideas the grownups will probably want to take part in.
There are other activities as well, duck walks, three-legged races, gunny sack races, you name it. With some thought, there are no doubt some interesting variations of the traditional Easter egg hunt one might come up with. Try some of the above activities at your next Easter party and just take it from there.
